Shantiniketan Embossed leather products has been a specialty of WB since 1940s. Handcrafted using vegetable tanned cruelty free goatskin leather. It is said that this craft has been brought by the daughter in law of Rabindra Nath Thakur from Java in the 1940s. And now it symbolises traditional artisan excellency blended with modern day utility. This craft employs the cutting, polishing and embossing of leather by hand painting. Along with these stages it also employs precision, an eye for detailing, a rooted traditional art form and human efforts and affection.
